JU organises career counselling workshop on "Plan your future"

JAMMU: Employment Information cum Advisory Bureau, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu organized a career counselling workshop on "Plan your future" for the students of Govt. Degree College, Kunjwani here today.
The workshop was inaugurated by the principal of the college Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo.
He in his inaugural address expressed the dire need for career counselling programmes for the students as it helps to build a strong foundation for students at the college level as jobs are shrinking.
He further added that it not only helps students to become independent thinkers but also encourages them to plan for their future as self employed. He also appreciated the efforts of Department of Lifelong Learning to organise such workshop for their students.
The programme was organised under the supervision of Dr. Jeevan Jyoti, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu.
The special resource persons were Dr.Shallu Sehgal, Sr. Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, University of Jammu, Dr. Neetu Dhar, Chief Co-ordinator and Master Trainer, JKDCUL and Dr.Rewa Khajuria , Counsellor , EIAB, DLL, JU.
Dr.Shallu Sehgal, in her presentation, apprised the students about Entrepreneurship growth and Competitiveness. She also gave detailed information on start ups and various schemes available.
Dr. Neetu Dhar in her presentation, explained, in detail, to the students the effective and successful Communication. She also highlighted the effective strategies for Interview with right body language. Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, EIAB, DLL, JU explained the important steps of selecting a career to the students.
Around 79 students attended the workshop. Dr. Arti Gupta, Convenor, Career Counselling Cell of the college coordinated the workshop. Prof. Aashiq Hussain conducted the proceedings of the programme and formal vote of thanks was given by Prof. Bushra Nizami.
